Ásgeir has released a tenth anniversary edition of his record-breaking debut, ‘Dýrð í dauðaþögn’, out now. The limited-edition double vinyl release contains bonus tracks including a never before heard Icelandic version of ‘Dreaming’, ‘Frá mér til ykkar’.

Of the reissue Ásgeir said; “I know this album means a lot to some people and I’m happy to be celebrating its 10th anniversary. I remember knocking on the door of a studio with demo CD and giving it to Guðmundur Kristinn Jónsson who then called me the next day and wanted to try recording one song. That was the beginning of the making of this album that then took us, me and the band, many times around the world.”

Ásgeir's debut album Dýrð Í Dauðaþögn, produced by Gudmundur Kristinn Jonsson, immediately recalls the heavenly vocals of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and the light, electronic touch of British glitch pop sensation James Blake. His Icelandic lyrics, however, make for an easy distinction, and to non-Icelandic speakers sound as poetic as they really are. The songs are light and airy, inset with Ásgeir's distinctive melancholic voice. Their vibrancy elevates them way beyond the folktronica tag.
